Gent Wevelgem 2013 - Spring Classics Cycling Holiday
(Includes the option to ride the Gent Wevelgem Sportive)

22nd-25th March 2013

Every season of cycling's Spring Classics starts out with Gent-Wevelgem in March. It is one of the Flanders Classics and we always see a great race each year. At the occasion of the 75th Anniversary edition and in the context of the remembrance of 100 years World War 1, Ypres gets taken up in the course again for the upcoming years.

Tom Boonen of Omega Pharma-Quick Step, defending champion and the poster boy of this year's Gent-Wevelgem won the cobbled Classic for the third time, beating Liquigas-Cannondale's Peter Sagan in a sprint finish contested by a group of 25 or so riders. Rabobank's Matti Breschel was third

In the early season the top cycling pro riders are in great form and ready to show us what they've got. With lots of climbs, narrow roads, and plenty of cobbles Gent Wevelgem proves to be a grand spectacle.

Despite its name being Gent Wevelgem, the race hasn't started in Gent since 2004, usually beginning on the market square of nearby Deinze. The route heads westward towards the Belgian coast, after which it moves southwards near the French border towards the Monteberg and Kemmelberg, before heading towards Wevelgem.

For the 2013 Gent Wevelgem, we are operating a 4 day/ 3 night coach trip from the UK, staying in Gent, giving you the chance to ride the Gent Wevelgem Sportive on the Saturday and to see the race at various points along the route.

We, at Sports Tours International, have been taking cycling enthusiasts to see the Spring Classics for twenty years, so you can benefit from our indepth knowledge and experience of these races.
