Paris Roubaix Challenge and Pro race 2016

8th to 11th April 2016

Bring your bike and ride the cobbles in the Paris Roubaix Challenge before watching the Pros!

In April 2016, the Roubaix Challenge will take place the day before the 2016 Paris Roubaix Pro Race.
We are offering you the chance to incorporate both riding the event plus watching the 2016 Paris Roubaix Pro race within our weekend travel package.

The ultimate challenge is to ride the 163k from Busigny to Roubaix on the same course as the pros the day after. However the routes of the 70 and 139k will also leave you plenty of opportunity to get to know the tough cobblestone sections of the mythical Paris-Roubaix race.

Sports Tours International has many years of experience in operating cycling trips to this part of France, so join the experts on the cobbles and enjoy this wonderful cyclo-touristique event.

Saturday 9th of April - 2016 Paris Roubaix Challenge
Please note that we have been advised by the race organisers that a medical certificate is NOT required.

After an early breakfast, our coach will take you to the start of the 2016 Paris Roubaix Challenge which will be in Busigny this year for the 163km distance. Busigny is about 30km from our hotels in Cambrai and about 1h30mins from Roubaix.

The start is a fairly low key affair. We will get there and you can set off once you are ready. At the finish in the Roubaix Velodrome we'll be there for you with a sandwich and a drink.

The 139km and 70km distances will start from the Roubaix Velodrome so if you are staying at the Mercure In Roubaix, you can simply ride to the start and back from the finish. These start between 0700 and 1000 and 0700 and 1200 respectively.

Start and finish locations per distance:

  • 163km - Start in Busigny and finish at Velodroime Roubaix
  • 70 and 139km - Start and finish at Velodrome in Roubaix

After everybody has finished, we will take you back to the hotels in Cambrai so we are well located to see the race the day after.

Sunday 10th of April - Pro Race
After breakfast we'll go to the start area in Compiegne to watch the start of the 2015 pro race, after which, using our expert knowledge of the race route, we'll guide you to a number of pave sections to view the pro race and finish at the Velodrome at Roubaix.

Provisional daily itinerary (note that unforeseen circumstances on the day may force us to change our plans)

  • Race start in Compiegne
  • Cobbled section at Inchy
  • Cobbled section at Sars et Rosieres
  • Finish at Roubaix Velodrome

As it may be hard to find a place for food during the day, you will have a packed lunch to bring along with you.

We will leave after breakfast and travel to Calais for the 12.30pm sailing to Dover. We'll arrive in London at 15.00, Birmingham at 18.00, Manchester/Sheffield 20.00 and Leeds by 21.00.

If you are making onward travel arrangements, please be aware that the above times are subject to change and may alter due to circumstances on the day.
