Paris Roubaix Challenge and Pro race 2014
11th to 14th April 2014
Travel packages to the 2014 Paris Roubaix pro race are now ON SALE. Our trip in 2013 sold out in record time. You can ride the course the day before the Pros tackle it by entering the Roubaix Challenge on 13 April 2014.
The Paris-Roubaix is one of the oldest cycle races of the professional road cycling calendar. First run in 1896, it was created by two Roubaix textile manufacturers, Théo Vienne and Maurice Perez, who were hoping the race would become a training event for the then more famous Bordeaux-Paris. They suggested the idea to Paul Rousseau, director of sports newspaper Le Vélo and he was immediately convinced, sending his cycling editor Victor Breyer to research and scout the original route between Paris and Roubaix. The race has been contested every year since 1896, stopped only by the two World wars.
Bring your bike and ride the cobbles for the Paris Roubaix Challenge before watching the Pros!
In April 2014, the Roubaix Challenge will take place the day before the 2014 Paris Roubaix Pro Race. We are offering you the chance to incorporate both riding the event plus watching the 2014 Paris Roubaix Pro race within our weekend travel package.
The ultimate challenge is to ride the 170k from Busigny to Roubaix on the same course as the pros the day after. However the routes of the 70 and 140k will also leave you plenty of opportunity to get to know the tough cobblestone sections of the mythical Paris-Roubaix race.
