 L’Eroica is the oldest vintage cycle race in the
world. The randonnée takes place over tarmac and dirt roads
of the Chianti district of Tuscany and many participants ride the event
on vintage bicycles, dressed in vintage gear.
Of course you are free to
take part to the event with contemporary bikes and dressing as you
prefer, but many do enter into the spirit
of the occassion……remember three speed bikes??????
L’Eroica is a leap back to the epic times of cycling. Here you
will meet “heroes” that complete all the 200 kilometers
of the routes riding old bikes of about a century ago, dressed in the
original breeches and cloth caps. Here you will find one of the most
important markets of vintage bike memorabilia in the World.
This is truly an “Italian
Classic” and a chance to forget
about modern day “mass participation” events, although
there will be a thousand or so riders.
Itinerary:
Friday, 3rd October
 Flying into Pisa via Ryan Air from many airports in the UK you will
be collected from the airport for the transfer up into the Chianti
region to our 4 star hotel close to the start of the event.
Saturday, 4th October
A day for leisurely riding round the Tuscan countryside, trying a
few glasses of Chianti and the local food before the official welcome
meeting, and another few glasses of the local wines. (But not too
many as the ride will be an adventure as well as a test for man
and machinery). The welcome meeting will include a visit from the
founder of the event, Mr Giancarlo Brocci, before we move on to
the Cena Degli Eroici (the official event dinner) for a get together
with all competitors and supporters/families.
Sunday,
5th October - The
ride…..

/ 135 / 75 or 38 kms offer something for any level of experience. For
clients there
is race backup during the ride, for non-riders
a tour of the route, and for all visitors, a unique experience on
the rough roads of L’Eroica.
After the ride there is the post race dinner is a local Osteria,
featuring tyupical Tuscan/Chianti region food and wine.
Monday 6th, October
Unfortunately time to return to reality and the journey home to
your departure airport, but not before booking your digital photo
memoirs from the race organization.
