Gran Fondo Milan San Remo 2017
2nd to 5th June 2017
The date of the 2017 Gran Fondo Milan Sanremo is expected to be Sunday June 4th. Please note that this date is not yet 100% confirmed and if you book we will apply your booking to the correct dates if different from the above.
The Milan Sanremo Gran Fondo is your opportunity to ride the route of the longest one day event on the UCI calendar in June 2017.
The Milan San Remo Gran Fondo follows the same route as that undertaken by the professional cyclists during the annual spring classic in March, the Milan Sanremo. We offer 2 nights in Milan and 1 night in Sanremo with airport transfers from Milan and to Nice and luggage transfer on race day included as well as guaranteed entry and staff support.
The genuine Gran Fondo Milan Sanremo organised by U.C. Sanremo covers nearly 300km from the outskirts of Milan to Sanremo, on the Corso Garibaldi. In 2016 there was a landslide which also disrupted the 2016 Milan Sanremo pro race in March. Due to this the Col de Turchino was left out of the 2016 route.
Sports Tours International gives you the opportunity to ride the full distance of this this classic race along with 2 nights in Milan and 1 night in Sanremo included as well as full support from our dedicated staff to make sure that you get the absolute best time you possibly can.
- Guaranteed entry to the Gran Fondo included
- 2 hotel nights in Milan near the start and 1 in Sanremo near the finish
- Airport transfers and luggage transport included
This is the longest amateur cycling event in the world, with a distance of about 296 km from the outskirts of Milan, crossing the Lombardy and Piedmont Plains, proceeding to the ascent of the Turchino and arriving finally at the Ligurian Riviera. From Genoa the route follows the coast of the Ligurian sea right to the finish line, which can only be conquered by venturing up the legendary climbs of the Cipressa and the Poggio of San Remo.

Friday June 2nd:
We will collect you and your bike from Milan Malpensa or Milan Linate airports. We will run a minibus shuttle transfer service between the airports and the hotel at :

Plenty of time is available to assemble bikes either this afternoon or tomorrow morning, and prepare for the Gran Fondo on Sunday. This evening there is a welcome meeting to get to know each other and the other riders that are staying at our hotel.
Saturday June 3rd:
Today you have the opportunity to visit Milan for a spot of sight-seeing or shopping and a day off the bike or it’s a chance for a gentle ride out into the countryside to the south and a stretch on the race route. This evening there will be a buffet style evening party at the hotel, after which an early night is recommended. During dinner there will be a race briefing on tomorrow’s event to help you get the most out of it.
Sunday June 4th: 2017 Gran Fondo Milan-San Remo
Early breakfast today. We will need to be at the start of the race for 07:00. We will look after your luggage and deliver it to the Hotel in Sanremo whilst you are riding.
The first 120kms of the race is on and many riders will go at full speed. After hitting the coast the peloton thins out and it is easier to stop and catch a following groupetto than to stop early on and lose the wheel of the main bunch. The wind usually heads inland and is head-on, so staying with the group for as long as possible is a good move to conserve energy.
At the finish there is the opportunity to take part in a finish-line party, held in the adjacent convention centre. Alternatively you can make your way directly to our hotel, the 4 star Hotel Londra on Via Roma, just under a kilometre away from the finish area. This evening dinner will be served in the hotel.
Monday June 5th:
We will be running transfers to Nice Airport. You should aim for afternoon or evening flights where possible to allow the transfer time back from Sanremo to Nice. (approximately 40 miles, and 90 minutes).
Today we offer 2 transfers; one transfer will leave at 08:00 for flights at 12:00 or later and one transfer at 12:00 for flights at 16:00 or later.
