Fondo Milan-San Remo 2012 Cycling Holiday
Cyclo Sportive Event...
8th to 11th June 2012
 Follow the likes of Roche, Cancellara, and more recently World Champion Mark Cavendish in taking on this famous course.
The genuine Milan Sanremo Sportive, organised by U.C. Sanremo covers 294kms from Milan (Milanofiori) to Sanremo, on the Corso Garibaldi, and covers almost exactly the same route as the professional race, which is held in March.
Itinerary:
Friday 8th June:
We will collect you from Milan Malpensa. You should aim to arrive in the morning to facilitate timely transfers to our hotel in Milan, which is on a bed and breakfast basis, to allow you the freedom of eating out at night. Plenty of time is available to assemble bikes and prepare for the gruelling event on Sunday.
Saturday 9th June:
Today you have the opportunity to visit Milan itself fora spot of sight seeing/shopping, and a day off the bike, or it's a chance for a gentle ride out into the countryside south of Milan and a stretch on the race route. Again, Dinner at leisure and an early night is recommended.
Sunday 10th June: Gran Fondo Milan-San Remo
 Early breakfast and we will need to be at the start of the race for 07:00. The first 200kms the race is on at full speed. After hitting the coast the peleton thins out and it is easier to stop and catch a following groupetto than to stop early on and lose the wheel of the main bunch. The wind usually heads inland and is head-on, so staying with the group for as long as possible is a good move to conserve energy.
At the finish, you will be met by Sports Tours staff and directed to our 4 star Grand Hotel De Londres, on the Corso Matuzia, two miles back along the sea front. The hotel is excellently situated and surrounded by local pizza and pasta places, as well has having fantastic dining facilities. At 20:00 we will have a Celebration Dinner in the Hotel.
In 2006 the Sports Tours Team won the Copa Simpatia, a magnificent trophy for a team of International Riders. In 2012 we would hope to do the same, and look forward to our riders accepting the challenge of the event.
Monday 11th June:
Transfers to Nice Airport. You should aim for afternoon or evening flights where possible to allow the transfer time back from Sanremo to Nice. (approximately 40 miles, and 90 minutes)

Included:
- All packages include airport transfers from Milan Malpensa Airport on the Friday and then to Nice Airport on the Monday morning. There will only be one transfer on the Friday and one on the Monday.
- 2 nights Bed and Breakfast in a luxury 4 star hotel in Milan, at the race start.
- One night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in the luxury 4 star Sanremo Hotel, a short ride from the finish
- Sports Tours International rep will be accompanying this trip.
Excluded (not exhaustive):
- Flights or travel to Milan and from Nice.
- Travel insurance.
- Any hotels extras.
- Any drinks with meals.
- Entry fee - must be booked as an extra. Please note, you will also need a medical certificate to show taht you are fit enough to ride int eh event. If you do not have this, then you can pay a ine day licence fee for the cost of about €10.

At time of booking we require a non-refundable deposit of £100 per person, plus the full Race Entry Fee, which is non-returnable once booked. The balance of your travel package must be paid, at the latest, 12 weeks before departure to avoid the cancellation of your trip.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Visas are not required to enter Italy. You need a passport or a National Identity Card (see the website of the Identity and Passport Service (IPS)) to enter Italy. As a British passport holder or National Identity Card holder you may stay as a visitor for three months. For links to important websites, click here.
