LA MONT VENTOUX & GRIMPE DU VENTOUX
Cyclo Sportive Event...
Friday 4th June – Monday 7th June 2010

La Ventoux is a classic cyclo sportive event held in the Provence region of Southern France. It is held over a classic route that rivals the L’Etape du Tour. (See profile below)

There are a choice of 3 distances (170km Master event), (102km Senior event), (75km Decouverte event), all starting and finishing from the town of Beaumes de Venise.
The following day you will have another chance to climb the Giant of Provence with a 21.5km mass participation event from Bedoin to the Weather Station of Mont Ventoux.
Each rider will be given their personal time.

We are offering a long weekend trip to take part in both La Ventoux and Grimpe du Ventoux events.
This would be an ideal weekend for those who are preparing for the Etape du Tour or have already done the Etape and fancy another challenging cyclo sportive event that takes in a famous Tour de France mountain.

Mont Ventoux has special significance to British cyclists as it was here 42 years ago in 1967 that British rider Tom Simpson died whilst taking part in the Tour de France.
Flights will be to Marseille and we shall spend 3 Nights on Half Board basis (Bed, Breakfast & evening meal) at a 3* Hotel located in Carpentras / St Didier.

Itinerary:

Friday 4th June:
Arrange your own flight to Marseille.
From the UK www.ba.com offer direct flights from London Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester. You also may want to check out flights with Air France www.airfrance.com
Budget Airline www.easyjet.com offer numerous flights into Marseille from Bristol, Liverpool & Gatwick. Other budget airlines that fly into Marseille include www.ryanair.com from Dublin, Glasgow (Prestwick) & Stansted.
On arrival at Marseille airport you will be met by our reps. At 12.00hrs and 17.00hrs we will operate coach transfers to Carpentras / St Didier where you will spend 3 nights on half board basis at a 3* Hotel
It is approx 1hr 30mins coach transfer from Marseille to Carpentras.
Any persons arriving after 17.00hrs must make their own way to Carpentras.
Please make sure that you book your bike onto the flight (this maybe at an extra cost).

Saturday 5th June:
La Ventoux 170km, 102km, 75km
The start of the event is in Beaumes de Venise (9km from our hotel in Carpentras) at 08.30hrs, so after an early breakfast (07.00hrs) you will be able to ride to the start. Just like the Etape du Tour there will be food & liquid stations. You will get your own personal time for the event with a classification (scratch & age) and Gold, Silver & Bronze awards. Our reps will be waiting at the finish and you will be able to descend to the town of Malaucene where transport will be provided back to the hotel Safari in Carpentras.

Sunday 6th June:
Grimpe du Ventoux 21.5km
The start of the event is in Bedoin at 09.00hrs, so after an early breakfast (07.00hrs) you will be able to ride the 15km to Bedoin for the start. This is a mass participation 21.5km event and you will get your own personal time for climbing Mont Ventoux. After the finish you will descend and ride back to the hotel in Carpentras.

Monday 7th June:
After breakfast we shall leave Carpentras and return to Marseille airport. We shall operate 2 airport transfers to each airport, the first at 08.00hrs, arriving Marseille 09.30hrs and the second departing at 12.00hrs, arriving Marseille at 13.30hrs.
