Haute Route Alps - France 2013 Cycling Holiday
Multi Stage Cyclo Sportive Event...

Sports Tours International are pleased to have been chosen to be official travel partner for the 2013 Haute Route, the longest and hardest cyclosportive that takes place from the 18th until the 24th of August in the French Alps.
We only have a very limited amount of places available to us so please ensure you get in quick! Our package for the Haute Route 2013 is an 8 night package.
Our packages are designed to give you the minimum of hassle so you can focus all your attention on riding the event. All you need to do is do the training and turn up at Geneva airport on the 17th of August 2013.
We pick you up from the airport, we assist you with building your bike, we will transport your bike bag and any other luggage from hotel to hotel so your bags arrive before you at the hotel each night. Each night we will be on hand for advice and service.
Your non-riding partner can come and join you as our minibus will transport passengers from hotel to hotel and we will be on hand at strategic locations with day bags, nutrition and encouragement.
If you have already purchased your Haute Route entry, you can still make use of our support package.
Below is a summary of the seven stages of the Haute Route 2013:
Stage 1: Sunday 18th August: Geneva - Megeve
Stage 2: Monday 19th August: Megeve - Val d'Isere
Stage 3: Tuesday 20th August: Val d'Isere - Serre Chevalier
Stage 4: Wednesday 21st August: Serre Chevalier - Pra Loup
Stage 5: Thursday 22nd August: Pra Loup - Pra Loup
Stage 6: Friday 23rd August: Pra Loup - Auron
Stage 7: Saturday 24th August: Auron - Nice

Itinerary:
Saturday 17th of August:
Arrive directly at our hotel in Geneva or arrange to take the option to fly into Geneva Airport and make use of our airport transfer.
We will be operating transfers throughout the day from the airport to hotel Manotel Edelweiss***plus in Geneva centre.
It is advisable to arrive in the morning so you can register and pick up all the extras that are included with your Haute Route entry. Like last year you will receive:
- 1 complete set of Haute Route cycling kit
- Haute Route travel bag with wheels (120 litres), transported from start to finish venue
- 1 Haute Route back pack (available near finish line for access prior to going to hotel)
- Mechanical support from Mavic both at each race village and along the route (not for repairing punctures)
- A personalised frame plate and 2 sets of race numbers
- Pit stops and refreshment breaks (solid, liquid, energy products) during each stage
- A hot meal at the finish of each stage

This evening we will organise a race briefing and you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow riders.
Sunday 18th of August: Genève – Megeve - 149km, 3300m of ascent
Highlights: The Col de l'Encrenaz (1433m), the Col de Joux Plane (1691m) and the final climb into Megève by the old Cambloux road (1104m).
After an early breakfast, make your way to the start of the 2013 Haute Route. The start of the race will be from the Jardin des Anglais in Geneva. This is only a couple of km from our hotel so you can easily ride there.
We will transport your luggage from Geneva to Megeve for you so all your things are available at the hotel when you arrive. Non-riders will be transported by minibus and we intend to stop along the route to provide support to the riders.
Tonight we are staying at the Hotel TBC in Megeve. This evening we will enjouy an evening meal together and our staff will be on hand to make any bike adjustments and we will aslo have a race briefing for tomorrow's stage from Megeve to Val d'Isere. Stay overnight at the hotel TBC.
Monday 19th of August: Megeve to Val d'Isere - 108km, 3400m of ascent
Highlights: Col des Saisies (1650m), the Col du Cormet de Roselend (1967m) and the ascent from Bourg st Maurice to Val d'Isère itself (1840m).
After breakfast we will make our way to the start at the Sports Centre in Megeve which is only a short ride from the hotel.
Like every day, we will look after your luggage and we will also take care of the non-riders for the day so you can focus 100% on riding today's stage.
Tonight we are staying at Hotel TBC and we will enjoy a well earned evening meal together. We will be there to help you with any mechanical issues or any other advice or support.
Tuesday 20th of August: Val d'Isere to Serre Chevalier - 164km, 3400m of ascent
Highlights: A scenic loop into Italy. Col de l'Iseran (2770m), at nearly 3000m, the Col de Mont Cenis (2083m) and the Col de l'Echelle (1762m).
Today is a marathon stage of 164km from Val d'Isere to Serre Chevalier. You will need all the support you can get so we will be on hand to assist you where we can.
Tonight we are staying at the Hotel Plein Sud*** in Serre Chevalier. We will be there to offer any support you may require.
Wednesday 21st of August: Serre Chevalier to Pra Loup - 118km, 3000m of ascent
Highlights: Col de l'Izoard 2361m, Col de Vars, Pra Loup (1598m).
From Serre Chevalier we will head further towards the south of the French Alps with a stage to Pra Loup. Our hotel is in Barcelonette at the bottom of the climb to Pra Loup.
Thursday 22nd of August: Time trial Cime de la Bonette - 23km, 1560m ascent
The Cime de Bonette is one of the highest paved roads in Europe. Today you can test your speed uphill with the time trial. We will stay for a second night in Barcelonette.
Friday 23rd of August: Pra Loup to Auron - 142km, 3800m ascent
Highlights: Col de la Cayolle (2326m), the Col de Valberg (1672m), the Col de la Couillole (1678m) and Auron (1600m).
Tonight we will stay at the Hotel Savoie in Auron. Together we will have a meal at the hotel and get prepared for tomorrow's massive ride to Nice.
Saturday 24th of August: Auron to Nice - 162km, 2900m ascent
Highlights: Col de Saint Martin (1500m), Col de Vence (962m). The peleton will regroup for the final kilometres, which are ridden as a group on secured roads.
Tonight we are staying at the 4 star Hotel Nice Beau Rivage. We have reserved a celebratory meal at a seaside restaurant on the Promenade des Anglais for you tonight to celebrate this massive achievement.
Sunday 25th of August:
Throughout today we will run airport transfers to Nice airport.
Cost: £2299 per person based on 2 people sharing a twin or double room.
Supplement for the single occupancy of a room is £499 for the sole occupancy of a twin or double room.
Entry fee to the 2013 Haute Route; £1250 which is included in our above package price.

- 8 nights accommodation at various hotels on bed and breakfast basis

Not included in our travel packages is:
- Your journey to Geneva airport.
- Any meals and drinks not noted above.
- Any extras at your accommodation.
- Travel Insurance - highly recommended.
HOW TO BOOK:

At time of booking we require a non-refundable deposit per person plus any applicable entry fee. The balance of your travel package must be paid, at the latest, 12 weeks before departure to avoid the cancellation of your trip.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
To enter the Haute Route, you require a medical certificate that states that you are capable of cycling in cycling competitions. Visas are not required to enter Switzerland or France. You need a passport. As a British passport holder you may stay as a visitor for three months.
