La Mi-Marmotte 2014
3rd to 7th July 2014
Our travel package for La Mi-Marmotte 2014 (A shorter version of La Marmotte at 76km), is a 4 night package with 3 nights at the Hotel Beau Soleil in the centre of Alpe d'Huez and 1 night at the Hotel Christiania in Valloire itself which makes it easy for you to register.
We offer a basic package with accommodation only but you can build your package with different options to suit your requirements. All packages include the services of our experienced Sports Tours representatives.
You have the option of adding coach transfers, starting and finishing at Geneva Airport, although you can obviously make your own way to our hotels in Alpe d'Huez as well. We also offer guaranteed entries to this event when booked with a travel package.
Sporthotel Beau Soleil - 3 night stay on half board with Monday departure:
The Sporthotel Beau Soleil is at the top of the resort near the main ski gondola. The hotel has mountain venue and balcony rooms with south facing view available. You will stay here on half board. Our staff are based at this hotel for your convenience.
La Christiania - 1 night stay on half board:
La Christiania is located right in the heart of Valloire and close to race registration and the start of La Mi-Marmotte.
Thursday 3rd July - Arrival day
You will arrive at your hotel today or take the option to fly into Geneva Airport and make use of our transport. We will be operating one transfer at 14:00 from the airport to our hotels in Alpe d'Huez and another one at 19:00 (£89 return). It takes around 3 hours to complete the journey to the hotel.
Friday 4th July:
Registration will be today between 14.00 and 19.00 in Valloire. During the afternoon we will run a coach transfer from l'Alpe d'huez to Valloire where we will be staying at the excellent 3* Hotel Christiania on Dinner, bed and breakfast basis. There will be plenty of time today to register and to build your bike and make some last minute adjustments if required. Our staff will be on hand to assist you.
Saturday 5th July - La Mi-Marmotte 2014
Last minute registration is beteen 9:00 and 10:00 and then the start of La Mi-Marmotte is in Valloire at 10:00 so after an early breakfast you ride over to the start before undertaking the 76km of the 2014 Mi-Marmotte finishing back in the ski resort of l'Alpe d'huez after completing it's famous 21 hairpin bends.
Sunday 6th July - La Grimpee de L'Alpe
Today you will have the additional option of participating in the Grimpee de L'Alpe, a 13km event to get your very own time climbing Alpe d'Huez. Ride your bike down to the start from the hotel and try to set a PB on the timed ascent of the Alpe.
Monday 7th July:
After breakfast, leave the hotel Beau Soleil or opt for our transfer back to Geneva Airport, with it leaving at 07:00 and arriving at the airport around 10:00. We advise not to book any flights before 12:00.
Day bag service:
You can give us items that you want to have available in the race when you stop at our first STI support station at 1km from the summit of the Col du Galibier so you don't have to carry it all the way with you. You have to use the bag we give to you for this purpose. This could be food, energy drink etc. We will not be able to transport items in between different support stations on the day.
Please note that all these items have to be disposable or you need to use them as we can't bring them back.
Please note that we can not be held responsible for the loss of any valuable items so please don't put any valuables in the bags. We will not be able to transport items in between different support stations. The bags will be kept and delivered back at night.
Just like the Etape du Tour, there are rolling road closures, feed stops etc, before finishing in Alpe d'Huez. You will get your own personal time for the event, together with a classification. This is what people riding the Mi-Marmotte strive for - will you get a gold, silver or bronze? Our hotels are well situated in Alpe d'Huez, so you wont have too far to go afterwards from the finish. Upon return to your hotel, you can choose to do what you wish, so either relax or celebrate!
Like in 2013, we will have massage therapists available pre- and post event. You can put your name down for this on arrival. The price last year was €20 for 20 minutes and payable locally.
We will do 2 STI support stations. Our first station will be at 1km from the top of the Galibier and we will have food and drink here as well as the items that you want to give us to have available for you. Our second support station will be on bend 7 on the final climb to Alpe d'Huez. We will have drinks and gels only here (and a friendly face and encouragement).
Please note that if you want to get round in a good time, it pays to be as self sufficient as possible and to keep stops quick and efficient.
