Cyclo Sportive and Race watch...

The Milan San Remo pro race is one of the monumental classic 1 day races in the professional calendar. The race is organised by the the Italian sports newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, the same people who organize the Giro d’Italia.

Apart from seeing this fantastic cycle race you will be able to take part in the cyclo sportive event “Medio Fondo Milan San Remo” the day after. The event is 113km, starts and finishes in the city of San Remo and covers part of the Milan San Remo Pro Race route including the famous climbs of the Cipressa and Poggio as well as the Passo di Ginestro. It would therefore be suitable for those cyclists who are new to cyclo sportive events as well as those who have a passion for the classics.
In previous years a number of professional riders have taken part including Ivan Basso & current world champion Paulo Bettini.
This event is part of the Gazzetta Trophy which includes a Giro d’Italia Grand Fondo and the Tour of Lombardy Classic in October.

One of the most exciting finishes ever was in 1992 when Sean Kelly pipped Italian rider, Moreno Argentin, at the finish after a classic duel over the Poggio. Be there to witness this fantastic race.

Itinerary:

Friday 21st March:
Book your flight to Nice airport (France), where we shall collect clients at 13.00hrs and 17.00hrs, please make sure that your flight arrivals meet with these collection times.
We shall travel to the short distance into Italy and the beautiful host town of San Remo, where we shall spend 3 nights on Half Board basis. .
If we have time we shall sign on and collect the numbers, if not we shall do it in the morning.

Saturday 22nd March:
MILAN SAN REMO RACE WATCH
After breakfast we shall ride out from our San Remo base and watch the Pro riders on the Milan San Remo. Most probably we shall ride to the final climb of the race, the Poggio.

Sunday 23rd March:
MEDIO FONDO MILAN SAN REMO

After an early breakfast you will line up with thousands of Italian cyclists and take part in the Medio Fondo Milan San Remo.

Monday 24th March:
After breakfast we shall leave San Remo and travel by coach to Nice airport. Drop off will be approx 11.00hrs at Nice airport. Please make sure that your flight times meet with these drop off times.
