GRAN FONDO NOVE COLLI

Cyclo Sportive Event...

Sunday 18th May

One of the biggest “Gran Fondo” races in the Italian calendar, with over 9,000 riders attempting the NINE hills of the Nove Colli (although most riders completing the course are convinced that there are more!!!)

Based in the seaside resort of Cesenatico, the home of Pantani, the weekend offers the opportunity to take part in the local Criterium on the Friday night, enjoy the events on Saturday, ride up into the principality of San Marino, or just laze around on one of the longest beaches in Europe. With nearly ten thousand cycling enthusiasts in and around Rimini, Riccione and Cesenatico, there are cyclists everywhere, all weekend, and a truly Italian feel to it.

Visit the Pantani museum, Pantani’s memorial, or visit the bike shop where he worked as a child and see the pictoral history of the young Marco as his love of racing developed.

Fly into Rimini, Bologna or Forli (transfer times 30 minutes to 60 minutes). With many low cost carriers flying these routes it is a relatively cheap destination, and an event that is a MUST for the Gran Fondinista.

Itinerary:

Thursday 15th May:
Arrive into either Bologna or Forli airports, am arrivals. Transfer to Hotel in Cesenatico.
Thursday afternoon opportunity to ride around Rimini, Riccione and San Marino, or visit the Marco Pantani Fan Club cafe,museum, and memorial.

Friday 16th:
(arrivals for those opting for 4 day package)
Day at leisure for all other riders.
Friday evening – Cesenatico Criteriums for those wishing to take part.

Saturday 17th:
Day at leisure, or supported ride to the principality of San Marino (50km, approx).

Sunday 18th: The Gran Fondo Nove Colli
Race Day, early breakfast and 6am start for the Nove Colli.

Monday 19th:
Depart for home.

All packages include airport transfers, Half Board with wine for dinner, early breakfast race day, and supported ride Saturday.
