Cyclo Sportive Event...

Sunday 27th June

NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE NOVE COLLI MARCO PANTANI HELD IN MAY

The Gran Fondo Marco Pantani is a relatively new cyclo sportive to the Gran Fondo calendar and is held over a classic cycling course in the Italian Alps, taking in the mythical climbs of the Gavia and Mortirolo which often feature so prominently in the Giro d’Italia.

The event starts and finishes in the ski town of Aprica, and is held over a classic mountainous course that Marco Pantani would have relished in his hey day. There is a choice of either 93km (Corto Fondo), 112km (Medio Fondo) or the full 172km (Gran Fondo).

The full 172km Gran Fondo route covers 3 mountain passes including the Passo Gavia, Mortirolo, Passo S. Cristina whilst the 152km Medio Fondo covers 2 mountain passes Passo Gavia and Mortirolo The shorter 93km Corto Fondo covers the climb of the Mortirolo.
The sportive is very well organised with numerous feed stations, tech support and electronic timing.
There is a pasta party both before the event and afterwards and also included with your entry is a Gran Fondo Marco Pantani T-Shirt.

Itinerary:

Friday 25th June:
Book your flight with Easy Jet to Milan Malpensa airport from either Gatwick, Stansted, Bristol or East Midlands or to Milan Bergamo with Jet2 from Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh, Belfast and Ryan Air from Bournmouth, Bristol, East Mids, Glasgow, Liverpool, Luton, Stansted, Newcastle, Dublin. We shall collect clients from Milan Malpensa at 15.00hrs and Milan Bergamo at 16.00hrs. Please make sure that your flight arrivals meet with these collection times.
After collecting at Bergamo airport we shall travel to the host town of Aprica, where we shall spend 3 nights on Half Board basis at a 4* Hotel.

Saturday 26th June:
Free day for preparing for tomorrow’s event. We shall sign on and collect the numbers.

Sunday 27th June:
GRAN FONDO MARCO PANTANI 2010
After an early breakfast you will line up with thousands of cyclists from all over Europe and take part in the Gran Fondo Marco Pantani.

Monday 28th June:
After breakfast we shall leave Aprica and travel by coach to Bergamo and Milan Malpensa airports. Drop off will be approx 10.00hrs at Bergamo and 11.00hrs at Milan Malpensa. Please make sure that your flight times meet with these drop off times.
