Tour du Galibier 2014
25th to 29th June 2014
This Alpine giant, which is also one of the highest finishing locations in the history of the Tour, is a climb that every cycling fanatic has to have under his or her belt!
Over 3 days, enjoy 3 challenging rides up and around the Col du Galibier, including the Col du Mollard, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col de Chaussy, Col de la Madeleine and Col du Télégraphe.
Watch out for the wild ibex: they have priority - it's their mountain, after all!
Planned itinerary for the 2014 event:
Wednesday 25th June:
Arrival day. Please arrange your own flight into Geneva aiport. Our Sports Tours Representative will be there to greet you and our transfer will leave the airport at 3pm taking you to the excellent hotel Chrsitiania in Valloire approximately 2 and a half hours away. We will be staying on a half board basis for the next 4 nights so that includes your breakfast and your evening meals.
After checking in we will arrange to go and collect race packs.
Thursday 26th June:
Today is the Cyclo tour: 'Le Bouquetin'. The route is as follows:
St Michel de Maurienne - Montvernier - Col du Chaussy - Col de la Madeleine - St Michel de Maurienne - Col du Télégraphe
There will be timed ascents at each col so you can test you mountain climbing ability against your fellow riders. The route finishes back in Valloire where you will be staying.
Friday 27th June:
Today is the ascent of the col du Galibier from Valloire.
Saturday 28th June:
If you fancy another challenge and have enough strength in your legs then today is the Cyclo tour: 'La Maurienne'.
The route is as follows:
St Michel de Maurienne - Villargondran - Col du Mollard - Croix de Fer - St Jean de Maurienne - Col du Télégraphe.
Finishing back in Valloire and again with timed ascents to test your mountain climbing skills.
Sunday 29th June:
Departure day. Arrange your own flight out of Geneva for AFTER midday. We will run a transfer to Geneva airport shortly after breakfast. The transfer will take approximately 2 and a half hours.
£TBA per person, based on two people sharing a Twin room.
Single supplement for the sole occupancy of a twin or double room of £TBA
- 4 nights at hotel Christiania in valloire, on half board basis

If you would like to join us as a single traveller but you want to avoid the single supplement then you can make use of our 'twin to share' option. We will pair you up with another rider (of the same sex) and you can enjoy the event without having to pay extra. Simply click on the green button and select the twin to share option.
