The Start in Ireland
With or without bikes
7th to 13th May 2014
In 2014 the second largest Grand Cycling Tour will start in Belfast in Northern Ireland before going across the border into the republic of Ireland and its capital city, Dublin.
On the first rest day the Giro caravan will move to Italy for the remainder of the 2014 Giro d'Italia.

Wednesday the 7th of May:
Please arrange your flight to Belfast International airport (BFS) and either make your own way to our hotel, the Premier Inn Belfast Cathedral Quarter or you can take our arranged coach transport. Please advise us of your flight details nearer the time so we can welcome you at Belfast Airport. The hotel is about 20 miles from the airport. If you fly into Belfast George Best Airport, please make your own way to the hotel.
Thursday the 8th of May: Team presentations
After breakfast you can go for a ride out of the city and into the surrounding country side in the morning. This afternoon the team presentations will take place at 17.30 at Belfast City Hall during a Live Outdoor Show.

After the teams presentation event, your evening will be at leisure round this great city.
Friday the 9th of May: Belfast City Centre Team Time Trial
After breakfast you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the start of the 2014 Giro d'Italia. On the programme today is a city centre team Time Trial around the city of Belfast or a time trial.
The Giro organisers, RCS have opted for a team time trial to kick off this year's Big Start in Ireland. The start will be in the Titanic Quarter, a stone's throw away from our hotel and the finish will be at Belfast's city hall. The Time Trial will start at 17.30 and finish at 20.00.

The evening will be free to sample Belfast's many excellent restaurants and bars.
Saturday 10th of May: Belfast to Giant's Causeway to Belfast
Today the start will be near our hotel again so from Belfast's Titanic Quarter. For those with bikes, we suggest riding out into the Northern Irish country side towards the Giant's cause way as we are expecting the race to go over there and back again today. Those without bikes can watch the start, take our minibus over to watch the race on the way and come back again to see the finish at Belfast's city hall. The stage will finish at about 16.30.

Tonight is our last night in Northern Ireland before moving across the border and into the Republic of Ireland and its capital city Dublin.
Sunday the 11th of May: Armagh to Dublin
After breakfast we will check out of the hotel and those with bikes can ride over to Armagh to watch the start or they can take the coach with the others over to Armagh before we move onto Dublin for the finish. We hope to watch the race along the way over to Dublin.

In the evening we will be arriving at our hotel in Dublin, the hotel Sandymount near to the finish in Dublin's city centre.
Monday the 12th of May:
Today is departure day and in the morning our Sports Tours International tour guide will take you to Dublin airport for your return flight. After dropping off at Dublin, we will also continue back to Belfast International airport to drop people off there as well.
Today the 2014 Giro will have moved onto the next stage. As Dublin is such a fantastic city we suggest that you add another few days onto your stay.

HOW TO BOOK:

At time of booking we require a non-refundable deposit per person plus any applicable entry fee. The balance of your travel package must be paid, at the latest, 12 weeks before departure to avoid the cancellation of your trip.
Visas are not required for British visitors to enter Ireland. You need a passport to enter Ireland. As a British passport holder you may stay as a visitor for three months. General Travel Information is also available. All other non-UK passport holders must check their own country's entry requirements for Ireland.
