This tour is designed for those people who don’t have the time to spend 10 days or 2 weeks following the Tour de France but want to see some of the most exciting mountain stages in privileged locations.

You will spend 3 nights on L’Alpe d’Huez at the Hotel Belle Aurore and from its privileged location, 1km from the finish you will see the most crucial and definitely the most exciting stage of the 2008 Tour de France. The night of the stage you will be one of the privileged people to have hotel accommodation on the Alpe and the next day we shall see the stage start from Bourg d’Oisans.

There will also be the opportunity to fly by helicopter from Alpe d’Huez to see the previous mountain stage to Jausiers which climbs the Col de Bonette-Restefond (2,802mts Europes highest pass). Please enquire for details if interested.

You will have the opportunity to bring your bike and ride both the Col du Galibier and the 21 hairpin switchbacks of L’Alpe d’Huez.

You can arrange your own flight to Geneva airport, where our reps will meet you and take you to our hotel on L’Alpe d’Huez.

From the UK there are numerous budget airlines that fly into Geneva airport (book early to take advantage of cheap flights). The following airlines fly from the UK into Geneva: www.easyjet.com, www.bmibaby.com, www.jet2.com

As part of this tour you will have the option of spending some VIP days on the Tour de France and join our LIVE THE DREAM package. Our LIVE THE DREAM package offers you the opportunity to ride part of the mountain stage Cuneo to Jausiers, have VIP Hospitality treatment at L'Alpe d'Huez stage finish, and access to the Bourg d'Oisans start village and riders enclosure.
We can offer you this exclusive package for the special price of £650 (see supplements below).

Monday 21st July:
Arrange your own flight into Geneva, where we shall meet you and at 13.00hrs & 18.00hrs we will operate transfers from the airport to the ski station of L’Alpe d’Huez, where we have reserved privileged accommodation at the Hotel Belle Aurore for 3 nights on Half Board basis (Dinner B&B).

The hotel is a typical ski hotel (not luxurious) but its position for watching the biggest stage of the 2008 Tour de France is perfect. The hotel overlooks the stage route and is located approx 1km from the stage finish.

Tuesday 22nd July:
The Tour de France returns to its home country with a short but brutal stage that takes in Europe’s highest pass, the 2,802mt Col de Bonette-Restefond before plunging down to the finish in Jausiers. Prior to climbing the Col de Bonette the stage will also tackle the Col de la Lombarde (2,350mt) which will bring the riders back into France and via the ski station of Isola 2000.

For those with bikes, they will have the opportunity of climbing some of cyclings most mythical climbs as the Col du Lauteret and Galibier as well as L’Alpe d’Huez are within easy cycling distance from the hotel. For those without bikes there will be plenty to do at L’Alpe d’Huez as the ski station prepares to welcome Le Tour, the party atmosphere will be electric. Or why not take the cable car from L’Alpe d’Huez up to Pic Blanc, at a staggering 3,600mt you feel like your on top of the world.
We can also arrange (at extra cost) a helicopter trip from L’Alpe d’Huez to see today’s mountain stage from Cuneo to Jausiers. You will see the stage on either the Col de Bonette-Restefond or the Col de Lombarde (Isola 2000 ski station). Please contact us for a quote if interested.

Wednesday 23rd July:
The best is saved for last…..as L’Alpe d’Huez (cycling’s mecca) will play host to the final Alpine stage and what a stage it is going to be. It’s an absolute classic stage that takes in the monumental climbs of the Col du Lauteret, the mighty Col du Galibier and the Col de la Croix de Fer before climaxing on the 21 hairpin switchbacks to the ski station of L’Alpe d’Huez.
Our location in L’Alpe d’Huez could not be better for accessing the stage as the hotel is located on the stage route, approx 1km from the stage finish, near to the final hairpin bend.
After seeing the stage we shall spend the night on L’Alpe d’Huez.

Thursday 24th July:
After breakfast we shall descend L’Alpe d’Huez to the town of Bourg d’Oisans where we shall see the stage start.
After seeing the stage start which is expected to take place approx 12.30hrs we shall leave Bourg d’Oisans and return to Geneva airport. Approx arrival at Geneva airport will be 17.00hrs. If this is too late for your flight then we have reserved a hotel at the airport (see supplement).

As Official Tour Operator of the Tour de France we can offer an exclusive package where you spend the morning at the riders start village in Bourg d’Oisans, after which you travel the whole stage route to St Etienne moving in and out of the publicity caravan experiencing the special atmosphere of the crowd. When you get to the finish in St Etienne you will your place in the exclusive VIP Izoard hospitality bus located very close to the finish line. Here you will have hostess service of drinks and snacks whilst watching the stage live on T.V. and after seeing the stage finish from this exclusive viewing area champagne will be served to celebrate the stage winner. After a memorable experience you will be taken to Geneva for your flight or Hotel.
