TOUR DE FRANCE 2014

The Vosges Mountain Stages VIP Experiences

12th to 15th July 2014

With the 2014 Tour de France moving into France for the 4th stage after visiting Yorkshire and London for the 2014 Grand Depart, as a VIP Tour Operator to the 2014 Tour de France, we have some incredible experiences available for you in Northern France, the Vosges mountains, the Alps and the Pyrenees and Bordeaux

Further to our standard tour which takes in the Vosges Stages and the Vosges and Alps stages to watch the Vosges stages of the 2014 Tour de France, we can also offer some unique trips with VIP access to the Tour.

These 3 stages in the Vosges will give us the opportunity to watch the race on the 13th and the 14th of July twice, in the same place. Our prediction is that some of favourites will be caught out and sustain an early setback. Added extra is Bastille day celebrations on the 14th of July.

The Stages:

Saturday 12 July - Tomblaine to Gerardmer 161km
The final 30km of this stage are very hilly so we will see an exciting final. The climb of La Grosse Pierre summits at 955m and has an ascent of 12% for 1.2km with a succession of hairpins and a maximum of 15%.

After the descent into Gerardmer there is a sting in the tail with a 3rd category 1.8km climb to La Muselaine ski station. The average is 10.3% with maximums of 15%.

Sunday 13 July - Gerardmer to Mulhouse 166km
Today is the eve of Bastille day; traditionally a great night out in France. The riders will have a great day out today with a brief passage into Alsace and a constant succession of climbs before a downhill run of 40km to the finish. Most interesting is the final climb of the Markstein, which climbs to Le Grand Ballon.

Monday 14 July - Mulhouse to La Planche des Belles Filles 161km
Most exciting of all is the final of today's stage when the race finishes up La Planche des Belles Filles before going across the very, very steep Cote de Chevraire. Only set at 2nd category, this climb is tougher than it seems. The climb will go through some narrow roads and a forest to tackle a series of tight hairpins at a gradient around 18-20%, with the summit coming around 20km from the stage finish.

The narrow road means that it is likely that there will be some fireworks today as there is no chance of individual teams controlling this race and any little mishaps like puctures can throw some of the favourites out of contention.

We expect the "start village" to open around 10:30am. On arrival you will be greeted by someone from the Tour de France organisation who will show you around the area and give you an insight into the inner workings of the Tour. This area is off limits to the general public and there are various things to look at like shops and exhibitions and there will be entertainment as well.

The highlight of this is the fact that the VIP accreditation also gives you access to the riders' start area so you can mingle with the racers and team directors and other people close to the inner world of cycling. Many people really enjoy the start village access due to the fact that you get very close to actual riders and you get a good insight into the inner workings of the 2014 Tour de France.
