The Raid Dolomite

Updated for 2007!

Saturday 11th August  to Thursday 23rd August

The Sporting Tours backup van.The Raid Dolomite is the sister Randonnee to the Raid Alpine with a 1180km and 40 col traverse of the Swiss/Italian Alps from Thonon les Bains (Lake Geneva) to Trieste (Italian Adriatic). Like both the Raid Pyrenean and Raid Alpine, the route takes you through some of Europe¹s most beautiful scenery and over many of its highest cols, including the Stelvio, San Bernardino, Passo Pordoi, Val Gardena etc etc...

You will leave Thonon-les-Bains on the Sunday and the aim of the Randonnee is to complete the distance in 11 days (average 100km per day), thus arriving in Triestre the following Wednesday.

A Sporting Tours vehicle will carry your luggage each day from overnight stop to overnight stop, and will also give emergency back up assistance.
Accommodation has been pre-booked at equidistant locations, on Half-Board basis (Bed, Breakfast, Evening Meal).

Travel to and from the Alps/Dolomites will be by air, but as the start and finishing points are far apart and in different countries, the most economical way of doing this would be to arrange your own flight (one way) to Geneva and a one way return from Venice Marco Polo.

Budget airline EASYJET fly from either London Gatwick, Bristol, East Midlands to Geneva and return to the same UK airports from Venice Marco Polo. These flights must be booked by the individual travelling.

Budget airline JET2 fly from either Leeds / Bradford or Manchester to Geneva return to the same UK airports from Venice Marco Polo. These flights must be booked by the individual travelling.
