Tenerife Cycling Volcano Tour
(See below for dates)

January to June 2014

Enjoy a week of cycling in Tenerife riding many of the roads used by top cycling professionals, such as Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Team Sky, to perfect their cycling form in time for major cycling races.

Our Volcano cycling tour in Tenerife, in conjunction with the Delgado brothers of Tenerife Bike Training, consists of amazing cycling rides, 3-8 hours cycling per day and support on the road. It's a great way of having a challenging cycling holiday in Tenerife and combining it with training.

2014 Dates:

January 25 - February 1
February 8 - 15
March 2 - 9
March 23 - 30
April 13 - 20
May 3 -10
May 25 - June 1
June 15 - 22.

We also offer a couple of other cycling tours in Tenerife, both easier: the intermediate Tenerife Cycling Lunar tour and one which is easier, the Tenerife Cycling Amateur tour.

Tenerife cycling routes for the Volcano cycling tour include:
Following the sea
- 60km starting and finishing in Los Cristianos and climbing over 600m, passing through the banana plantations and over the coastal cliffs. This is a good introduction to cycling in Tenerife.

Triangle - Approximately 60km starting from our hotel in Los Cristianos. This ride will takes us 1350m up to Vilaflor, the highest town in Spain. It's steep in places, but well worth the effort as the terrain and views change the higher up the mountain you cycle. The route back down the mountain is fast and you will speed through the corners quickly with exhilirating descents - really worth it!

National Park El Teide - Today, we will drive back to Vilaflor and start our ride here. The sections we ride today are the sames as those favoured by Tour de France winners in the past, so ride from Vilaflor to the top of Teide. Durin 3 to 4 hours, we will ride 75km, and ascend more than 1600m, plus descend back to Vilaflor. This is a hard day's cycling, but great fun! On a very clear day, you can see 4 other Canarian islands from the routes we choose today - Gran Canaria, El Hierro, La Gomera and even La Palma!

Queens Day - This is the hardest day of the week. Starting in Santa Cruz, we are going to ride 135km and ascend 3300m. This is the equivelant of a hard day in the mountains during the Tour de France! We're basically riding all the way from sea level to the top of Teide and then back down again. Hopefully the early days this week will have aclimatised you for this.

Kings Day - Another hard day, but should be easier than the Queens Day! 100km over 6-7 hours covering 2650m of climbing. You will have great views of the landscape as you ride along.

South - A lumpy route today and a nice way to finish off the week. we will ride 60km in about 3 hours and climb about 1100m, so significantly less climbing than the previous days and a nice way to finish off the week's cycling in Tenerife.
