Supported Cycle Touring Holidays for
2012
We have been running supported touring holidays to various European destinations for many years, including Italy, France, Spain, and Ireland.
Details of all 2012 Touring Holidays will appear here when available.
Tour de France Cycling Challenge 1 - Lake Geneva to Alpe d'Huez - August 2012
Sports Tours International is the number one provider of travel to the Tour de France. We organise many Tours around the Tour when it is on in July.
To give our riders the opportunity to re-live some of the Tour de France’s most exciting stages outside of the busy July Tour de France period we have put together 2 great holidays in the month of August.
You can do one or both Tours as they are running back to back. The first Tour is Lake Geneva to Alpe d’Huez from the 4th of August until the 10th of August and the second Tour is the Grenoble to Mont Ventoux from the 11th of August until the 18th of August.
From the crystal waters of Lake Geneva this tour will take you over some classic Tour de France climbs such as the Col de la Colombiere, Col de Madeleine, Col du Galibier and up to the finish at the ski station of l’Alpe d’Huez.
On certain days there will be the option of flatter routes.
Tour de France Cycling Challenge 2 - Grenoble to Mont Ventoux - August 2012
Sports Tours International is the number one provider of travel to the Tour de France. We organise many Tours around the Tour when it is on in July.

The Grenoble to Month Ventoux is a tour that we put together for the charity ‘Guide Dogs for the Blind’ in 2005 and it was a huge success. This year we are running it under our own banner, and it is based on stages from previous Tours de France
From the city of Grenoble this tour will take you over some classic Tour de France climbs such as Alpe d’Huez, Col du Lauteret, Col du Galibier, Col d’Izoard, Mont Ventoux and the little known climb of the Col de Rochette (where in 2003 Beloki crashed and Armstrong went mountain biking!!).
On certain days there will be the option of alternative flatter routes

The Raid Corsica (June 2012)
This Raid Corsica is a 1000km tour of the island in 7 days, starting and finishing in the coastal town of Bastia. Although the mountains are not as high as the Pyrenees or Alps the continuous undulations make this a tough randonnee. However if you have completed the Raid Pyreneen & Alpine then you should have no trouble.
The Raid Pyrenean (France) (June 2012)
The Raid Pyrenean is a 714km randonnée across the back bone of the Pyrenees connecting the town of Hendaye on the Bay of Biscay with Cerbere on the Mediterranean. The route takes you over many of the cols which feature so prominently in the Tour de France, including the Tourmalet, Aubisque, Marie Blanc, Aspin, and Peyresourde.
The Raid Alpine (July/August 2012)
The Raid Alpine is the sister randonnée to the Raid Pyreneen. This fantastic cycling holiday is a 740km traverse of the Alps from Thonon-les-Bains (Lake Geneva) to Antibes (Mediterranean coast). Like the Raid Pyreneen the route takes you over many of the cols which feature so prominently in the Tour de France, including the Iseran, Mont Cenis, Izoard, Vars, Restefond (highest col in Europe).
