Andy Cook Bike Weeks - 8th to 23rd Jan 2009

Following our success with the Bike Training Camp the last couple of years in January, Club La Santa once again welcomes you to an outstanding opportunity of participating in an intensive week/s training or general riding on the fascinating island of Lanzarote

The training/riding week/s will prepare you and the participants from several European countries for the season ahead in an amazing way in the fascinating volcanic landscape, which you will find on Lanzarote. Andy Cook, the guest riders and the Club La Santa bike guides will assist and lead you on the rides in different groups according to your individual level from relative beginners to seasoned enthusiasts. The terrain of the island is very varied with significant mountain climbs as well as un¬dulating roads, so Lanzarote is a perfect place to train and ride. You will be taken to the beautiful North, the fascinating Fire Mountains and to the far South. You will climb the steep Fémes, a climb out of category, and the long and beautiful Tabayesco, and you will bike a large part of the Ironman Lanzarote course. During the long rides there will be stops allowing you to have a sandwich and refreshment while enjoying the beautiful views.

Upon arrival there will be welcome meetings where you will also receive more information and the final programme. This is also where the payment will take place.

The bike rides start every morning with a short briefing of the course for the days ride after which the first group will depart.

The routes will vary in length each day to offer various routes with different levels of difficulty. There will be many hours in the saddle with a relatively low intensity, but there will also be time for other activities.

During the week there will be seminars/talks on how to continue training when you get home and other subjects such as nutrition. Besides that, we will also have other different social activities and at the end of each week, we will have a celebratory dinner.

Long Distance Bike Camp - 18th to 25th June 2009

After receiving many requests from our regular cycling friends, Club La Santa hasdecided to organise a long distance bike training camp in June. The idea is to prepare for the big events such as L´Etape du Tour, La Marmotte etc. which are taking place in Europe during the months of July and August.

You will get the last hard work done at a perfect time for what ever race you decide to enter. But, if you also just enjoy riding your bike without any goal, this is an opportunity to enjoy cycling in an outstanding landscape on the Volcanic island,Lanzarote.

On Lanzarote you can find lots of very interesting climbs, mainly Tabayesco and Femes – a climb out of category, will show how well prepared you are and will test your legs. Once we reach the top there will be time for a small break with refreshments.

We will have different groups, all lead by a guide, which will go with different speed (from 24 km/h to 30+ km/h). The landscape on Lanzarote is very rough, which will challenge the bikers and only few can go the same speed as at home.
