Not content with being the 2008 UK National Cycling Vets Champ (40–45 years) and winning the bronze medal in the 2008 Cycling Masters World Champs Graham Baxter has now moved his sights on to Triathlon. Ironman is the target and the start line at the Ford Ironman World Championships in Hawaii is the dream.
There is just the not-so-small obstacle of overcoming 3.8km of swimming in open water, 180km of biking followed by a marathon (yes 26.2 miles of running!).

Over the last 18 months Graham has caught the triathlon bug with a vengeance and has been getting more involved, first in a Sprint distance triathlon then an Olympic distance and then a half Ironman in Monaco where he recorded an amazing time of 5h 05m in his first attempt at the distance on an extremely challenging course.
Most recently while living and training in AUS he took on another Half Iron distance race when he travelled to neighbouring New Zealand to compete in Challenge Wanaka.

After successfully completing the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run he placed 14th overall and 4th in his Age Group recording his best result to date and a fantastic time of 4h 47m 34s. Next up for Graham is the Elche Half Iron Distance Triathlon near Alicante in April.
You can join him there as Sports Tours International now offer packages including guaranteed race entry to some of the world’s most exciting triathlons.

In May 2010 Graham will be making the step up to the full Ironman distance and taking on arguably the most demanding of them all, IM Lanzarote.
If Graham can tame the winds and searing temperatures which have given this race its legendary status and place highly in his age group then the start line at the biggest triathlon in the World beckons. The Ford Ironman World Championships at Kona, Hawaii on the 9th of October 2010.
